The Journey

From the loom to your door

Nothing here is mass produced. Follow one piece from raw highland fiber, through the dye pots and the backstrap loom, to the parcel that lands on your doorstep and the foster animal it feeds.

  1. Raw alpaca and sheep fleece in a woven basket with a drop spindle, Andean mountains behind

    Step 01 · Andean highlands

    Fiber

It starts with alpaca and sheep fleece carried down from the highlands, sorted by hand and spun on a drop spindle the same way it has been for generations.

  2. Skeins of yarn lifted from steaming clay dye pots of red, marigold and turquoise

Step 02 · Cochineal, marigold, indigo

    Dye

Color comes out of clay pots: cochineal for red, marigold for gold, plants and minerals for turquoise. Every batch lands a little different, and that is the point.

  3. Hands weaving a turquoise and marigold pattern on a backstrap loom

Step 03 · On the backstrap loom

    Weave

Tight geometry, patient hands. A single panel can take days on a backstrap loom, and the pattern carries the maker's own signature.

  4. Hand embroidery in fuchsia and lime thread on natural cloth

Step 04 · Stitch by stitch

    Embroider

Flowers, beads, and pom detail are set one stitch at a time. This is the step that makes two pieces from the same run refuse to look alike.

  5. A handwoven bag being wrapped in tissue and tied with a colorful woven ribbon

Step 05 · The atelier table

    Finish

Hardware set, linings trimmed, each piece checked and wrapped in tissue with a woven ribbon tied by the person who made it.

  6. A kraft parcel tied with a bright Andean woven ribbon on a sunlit doorstep

Step 06 · Wherever you are

    Doorstep

It travels from a workshop in Peru to your door, and 100% of the profit walks straight back out to feed and heal Kelly's foster animals.

The last step

Every stitch funds a foster

The makers get paid what they asked for, and every dollar of profit left over goes to food, vet care, and forever homes.

The mission

Every purchase funds a rescue

Kelly's Fosters is living rooms, not kennels. The boutique keeps that work funded.
